www.tamiesheffield.net/Hello! I'm Tamie, the inspiration behind My Never Ending Bucket. I am a farm girl from central Pennsylvania who has found a part time home in Los Angeles and the remainder on the road living out of a suit case or backpack. I grew up on a small farm in Mechanicsburg, PA and I have packed a lot of living in my brief time on the planet. I spent many years of my life as a cheerleader from primary school through to university, which culminated in graduating Summa Cum Laude at WestChester University with a BA in Elementary Education. I was also a founding sister of the Greek sorority Phi Sigma Sigma. After graduation, I moved to Los Angeles. Not for the bright lights of Hollywood at all. I wanted to teach Elementary school. However, I couldn't land a teaching job because California has their own credential program and I would have had to go back to school for another 2 years and I said "NO WAY!". So I did the waitress/bartend thing and it was only a short time after when a photographer came in and said "you should be a model.." So I started modeling for catalogues, posters, fashion shows and lots of stock photography. Then I started to host infomercials. Yes! That was me the annoying woman that you were watching at 3am selling acne cream, treadmills, weight loss pills and miracle makeup! This lead to my 10 year career of entertainment hosting when a TV host called in sick and the producer called me and said "you've done red carpet interviews before haven't you?" Of course I said yes, though I never had! That was the first of many red carpet interviews I did in Hollywood interviewing everyone from Drew Barrymore, Brittany Murphy, Jamie Fox, Kid Rock, Weird Al Yankovic, Kelly Slater, Kim Kardashian, The Wayan Brothers and Snoop Dog just to name a few!!
In July 2008, my publicist offered me an opportunity of a lifetime, to visit the US troops in Iraq and Kuwait. Every day was spent flying in Blackhawk Helicopters, Ospreys and C130 cargo planes visiting different bases and doing autograph signings and photo ops with our service men and women. This amazing experience changed me and the direction of my life. I realized that I wanted more out of life. I wanted to explore the world and immerse myself into different cultures. So I left the glitz and glamour of Hollywood and set out to experience and travel the world with only a back pack. My first back pack trip was 6 months in South America. I fell in love with the people, energy and culture of Buenos Aires. So much, that I returned to LA, sold everything I could and closed my apartment and moved to Argentina!! This was an incredible one year adventure that I will always treasure. I'm so proud that I've traveled to 119 countries and then I'm so embarrassed that I only speak one language! (Thank you American school system not requiring a second language!) Unfortunately, my Spanish classes interfered with my social and traveling schedule so I quit school. To this day, my Spanish is still horrible! Necesito un novio Latino!!! LOL!
I sometimes laugh at myself and how I travel. On one trip, I might be on a very low budget bus tour and the next trip I will be traveling by private jet and a chauffered Mercedes. Another trip I might be staying in hostels throughout the country and then staying in a luxurious 5 star resort with my own personal butler! I am equally comfortable when I strut my stuff at some of Hollywood's biggest red carpet events or standing knee deep in mud hiking some of the toughest treks in world. The same goes for food.... I'm easy! I'm all good with eating local shawarma street food to dining at Michelin Star restaurants such as Le Bernadin and Per Se in NYC.
It is hard to put a label on me other than my Wanderlust. I admit that I am definitely one of a kind with an on going case of FOMO (fear of missing out)! I love country and 80's music, but EDM/House music is my absolute favorite. I can be found dancing the night away at music festivals like EDC, Coachella, Stagecoach, ULTRA, Tomorrowland and Burning Man. These are yearly events that are burned onto my calendar. I am also a self-confessed adrenaline junkie at heart and extreme adventurer. I have bungee jumped, sky dived, paraglided, hang glided, white water rafted, climbed glaciers, swam with Great White Sharks, hung upside down from a helicopter and yes has even eaten maggoty cheese on a Reality Show. FEAR FACTOR of course..... and YES I WON!!!
In LA,I am quite restless. I always seems to be planning and researching my next adventure. Whether it be a weekend hike or a trip to another continent, I am the happiest and most peaceful when traveling. My friends don't ask me "How are you?" Instead they ask, "Where in the world are you?" Packing for a trip, that is an adventure of its own and a possible reality show. Often taking 2-3 days with sleepless nights to pack the ultimate over weight bag. My signature photos are jumping and feet shots that I do everywhere I go!!!
